About Montfort College

Montfort College, Bangalore – affiliated to Bengaluru North University – is an institute offering programs at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
Its curricula entail teaching, evaluation, therapy, counselling and research in different sub-disciplines of Psychology. The Motto of Montfort College is “Liberation with Enlightenment“. Though not long established, Montfort College maintains a strong foundation in research which adapts effectively to cultural diversity and the needs of the youth.

There is an increased reliance on professional agencies and experts to provide support, guidance and opportunities for the individual to learn to cope and equip themselves with skills to meet demands, and safe interactions for seeking counsel. The programmes at Montfort College aim at helping and equipping students with both conceptual inputs and hands on skills training to recognize, identify and respond effectively to the needs of individuals and social systems in the present society.

MONTFORT COLLEGE located in Bangalore city is one of the 160 educational institutions in 20 States of India managed by the Institute of the Brothers of St Gabriel which is the parent organization of the Montfort College Society. The Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel have been involved in academic, technical and special education in India since 1903 mostly for the poor and the rural population.

Presently, there is an increased reliance on psychological agencies and experts for support and guidance. In order to address the large requirement for trained mental health professionals in educational, family, health-care and industrial settings, Montfort College Society has pioneered counsellor education training in India.

Montfort College was established in the year 1995 to offer Post Graduate Diploma in Holistic Psychological Counselling. From 1998, it has been conducting  MSc. in Psychological Counselling and later, in 2005 MSc. in Psychology was included. Its curricula entail teaching, evaluation, therapy, counselling and research in different sub-disciplines of psychology.
