Dress Code

Dress Code

Montfort College being an educational institution, maintaining a professional appearance is very important for the professional development of the students.

All students are expected to present a professional image in the classroom, to clients at practicum sites, internships, field visits and to any other organisations where they may be representing the college. Thus, it is important for all students to be dressed appropriately and present a well-groomed appearance at college every day.

Students are not permitted to wear any religious attire while on campus. The college respects every religion and does not discriminate against any religion. It is because we wish to create a student community without divisions based on religion, culture, class, gender or social status and to ensure that students do not get discriminated against that we strictly enforce a secular dress code

In general, we highly recommend that students wear formal clothing on a regular basis on campus. This is especially mandatory for students going for practicum, internship and field visits. Formal wear includes but is not limited to:

  • Trousers and collared shirts
  • Kurta-pajama, salwar-kameez/churidar
  • Sarees

However, you are allowed to wear casual clothing on campus as long as it fulfills the criteria mentioned below. Following are the clothing items that are strictly not allowed for both UG and PG students.

1. Sleeveless clothing such as (but not limited to) tank tops, strapless, spaghetti straps, cold shoulders etc
2. Clothes that are worn-out, torn, frayed, have patches or holes such as (but not limited to) worn-out jeans
3. Tops with plunging necklines or anything that exposes your chest as well as midriff (such as crop tops)
4. Bottom wear that is above your calf length and/or low-waist (exposes your back)
5. Partywear, Dresses, Nightwear, workout clothes, tracksuits, sweat pants, and other such nightwear and sportswear. (However, sportswear is permitted on days when  Sports/Yoga classes etc are carried out)
6. Clothes with offending/demeaning messages/images
7. Full religious outfits such as habits, robes and burqas.

Irrespective of the purpose of the visit to the campus (including but not limited to college co-curricular/extra-curricular events or celebrations), students are expected to follow the dress code on all working days.  Violation of the dress-code will result in strict disciplinary measures.
