Student Support Services

Holistic Growth

The College has an extensive Alumni Association right from its first batch of graduate students. The association aims to create a powerful network in order to facilitate the college as well as support the students and the society at large.

The Alumni Association plays a vital role to bridge the gap between academic and corporate that promote personal and career enhancement of students. It also bridges the widening gap between the former students and the institute to keep them in touch with the present growth, development and also the challenges before the institute. At the same time, its role in organising sociocultural, educational and some other kinds of events in the college premises strengthen its relation with the institute with the passing off of each day. Feedback provided by the alumni play an important role in the professional growth.

Personal Therapy

Participation as a client in individual or group therapy can be both a growth experience for the students and a significant learning aspect of the programme to train mental health professionals. Experience as a client in personal therapy is, therefore, mandatory for the Counselling programme and strongly recommended for the Psychology programme. At Montfort college individual and group therapy is offered by trained therapists.

Personal therapy may, at any time, be mandated by the institute for the student to continue in the programme. The college has enlisted the services of professionals to provide personal therapy to students.

Personal counselling

Montfort College mandates personal therapy for all students. Students seeking to train in mental health and become mental health professionals need to be mentally healthy themselves. To this end, the college has mandated personal therapy for all students studying in the college. This ensures that students have the opportunities to work on their own issues at an individual level and they are less likely to carry these issues to their work with their clients. The college provides students a list of competent, recognized therapists/ counsellors from which they can choose their therapist. Many of these therapists provide their services at lower costs to our students so that it does not burden the students financially. Since we envision mental health and emotional wellbeing in society, beginning with the mental health of our own students is a clear activity in line with the vision. This activity is not a requirement of the university nor does any other college offering similar courses require their students to mandatorily go through personal therapy, so it is distinctive and unique to our institution.

Placement

The college placement cell forms a liaison between students and various organizations in the field of mental health. The cell organizes events to provide students with career opportunities. The cell also notifies students regarding various placement opportunities through the notice board and via email.

Grievance Redressal Cell

The Student Grievance Redressal Cell is established to promote and maintain a conducive and unprejudiced educational environment and to ensure effective solution to student grievances related to academic and administrative issues in an impartial and fair manner. A suggestion box is placed inside the Library for the students to voice their concerns and offer suggestions.

Complaints and suggestions dropped in the ‘Suggestion Box‘ as well as other oral complaints / suggestions are scrutinized by the management and the grievance redressal cell and redressed promptly. Class level grievances are attended by the concerned class teachers or coordinators. Unresolved grievances at the class level are referred to the Grievance Redressal Cell of the institution. Students can drop their complaints in the suggestion box or directly communicate them to the Coordinator / Principal / Director at any time. Depending on the seriousness of the problem, the issues are settled by the Cell or by the Principal / Director in consultation with other members of the management and faculty. The collective efforts of the management, faculty and the Grievance Redressal Cell resolve the complaints promptly and efficiently.

Students can also email their suggestions/grievances to grievancecell@sampurnamontfort.in Download format for Grievance
